Unable to preview PDF attachment from PDF reader.

Legacy KB ID: 5665

Question

I’m unable to preview the PDF file attachments under the transaction attachment screen. instead, it comes up with a pop-up box that says “Do you want to open or save this file?”. When I click “Open”, it opens the receipt preview on a web browser as opposed to the Transaction Attachment screen. Note, I’m able to preview .png files successfully though.

Applies to:Reckon Accounts Personal users.

Answer

Your PDF file extension is associated with internet explorer. Change the file association for .PDF to Adobe Acrobat reader.

Detailed steps.

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. Change the view to Category on the top right corner of the window.
  3. Go to Program -> Default Programs ->Make a file type always open in a specific program (Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations) > look for .pdf in the list
  4. Click on .pdf > Change program… > select Adobe from the list (install it if it’s not there) and press Ok.

Now open Reckon Accounts personal again and try previewing the PDF file. You should be able to preview it.

Additional information:

Please install Adobe Acrobat reader if not installed already on your PC.
