Reckon Accounts: File has more columns than required error when uploading Super Export file to NAB SuperPay
Legacy KB ID: 5218
Question
Why was my Super Export File rejected by the NAB with the error: File has more columns than required – for every employee in the file?
Answer
NAB Superstream has been retired by NAB and is no longer available for sale to new customer since July 2017.
Export your file again and take care not to open the file in any way.
The Issue
The ATO has mandated that the date cell in the Super Export File have a particular format.
If this file is opened by any program other than Notepad, the date cell’s format will be changed and be unacceptable to the SuperStream Gateway.
You might have opened the file inappropriately by:
- Double clicking on the file in Windows Explorer and it being opened by your default Spreadsheet programme (like Excel);
- Downloading the file from Hosted to your local PC via a Chrome or Firefox browser and clicking on the file tab which opens the file with your default spreadsheet programme.
Workaround
- In Chrome and Firefox, do not click on the file in the bottom left tab.
- Click on the link in bottom right: View all downloads and then click on View in Folder.
- If you wish to view the file we suggest you make a copy of it and then view the copy.
- Do not submit a Super Export File that has been opened by a program other than a text editor (like Notepad).
