Send Mail failed to send message when emailing an invoice from Home & Business.

Question

I am running Home & Business on a Windows 10 PC with Outlook 2016, why do I get the error “Send Mail failed to send message” when I try to email an invoice?

Answer

Set your Home & Business launch icon as “Run as administrator”.

 

Issue

Outlook 2016 works on higher security levels than previous editions of Outlook.  Home & Business running with normal permissions on Windows 10 no longer has sufficient permissions to instruct Outlook 2016 to send an email.

Running Home & Business with elevated privileges will give it access to Outlook 2016.

 

Workaround

1.    Right-click your Home & Business launch icon,

(or, C:\Program Files (x86)\Reckon Accounts Personal\qw.exe)

2.    Properties > Compatibility tab

3.    Tick the box Run this program as an administrator

4.    Click OK to finish.

You should now be able to send your invoice.
