Working with Alerts

Alerts can be set to notify when changes of interest occur in your data. They can be set on the individual Tiles of a Dashboard, and all of your Alerts can be viewed and managed from one place.

Alerts from Dashboard Tiles

Alerts can be set on individual Dashboard Tiles. A Dashboard could contain all Alerts of interest to you. Hovering over a Dashboard Tile displays the alert bell.

Clicking on the Alert bell opens the Alert dialog for that Dashboard Tile.

Here you can set:

  • The name of the Alert to be different from the generated default if desired
  • The criteria and value for sending the Alert
  • The recipient(s) of the Alert
  • The frequency of sending the Alert
  • The time to send the Alert
The method of sending the Alert is set to Email

If the query contains a date or time field, additional conditions are available:

  • Increases by
  • Decreases by
  • Changes by (a combination of Increases by and Decreases by)

The number of alerts that you are permitted to view for that tile, (even alerts that do not include you as a recipient and that you are not following) is shown on the Alert bell when hovering over the tile.

Once at least one Alert has been set on a Dashboard Tile, clicking on the Alert bell displays the Alerts dialog for that Tile.

From this dialog you can create a new Alert by clicking on the New button. You can also click the ellipsis button of an Alert to show that Alerts menu. If the Alert has been created by another, but you have permission, you can follow the Alert by clicking the Follow button. If you are following that Alert, the Unfollow button is enabled, allowing you to unfollow the Alert by clicking this button. If you are not the owner of the Alert, clicking the Unfollow button will remove the Alert from this dialog.

From this menu you can edit, duplicate, or delete the Alert.

Managing Alerts

You can manage all the alerts you have or are following from the Manage Alerts page, which is reached by clicking the profile menu at the top right-most, and selecting Alerts.

The Manage Alerts page shows information about your Alerts, and the Alerts you are following. From here you can unfollow Alerts you are following. If you are not the owner of the Alert, clicking the Unfollow button will remove the Alert from this dialog. From the Alerts ellipsis menu you can also edit or delete the Alert.
