Sales receipts with no customer selected are not included in the Item Profitability report.

Question

Why are some of my Sales Receipt transactions not being included in the Item Profitability report?

Answer

QuickBooks allows you to enter Sales Receipts without choosing a customer. If you do this then these transactions will not be included in the Item Profitability report.

One way around this is to set up a generic customer that you use just for Sales Receipts. For example you could use a customer called 'Cash Sales'. As long as you apply this customer to any Sales Receipt that do not require the actual customer, then the Item Profitability report will be correct.
