Modified business tags are duplicated

Question

When I modify a Business Tag why does the original remain in Quicken?

Answer

When you choose to modify a Business Tag, Quicken actually creates a new Business Tag.  The original Business Tag is moved into the Other category. 

Quicken cannot modify past transactions that have used the original Business Tag definition for the new details.  Therefore, to correctly report past transactions with Tags, the original definition must be maintained. 

When you create new transactions you will only see the current Business Tags.

When you open a report by Tag, all Tags will be displayed. 

 

To modify the Tags shown in a Report

1.    Open the Report and see all Tags

2.    Click on the Customise button in the top right corner

3.    Click on the Tag tab

4.    Uncheck unwanted Tags and click OK

5.    Your report will now display with only your selected Tags.
