Transaction Journal shows an account entry assigned to a Customer:Job

Legacy KB ID: 4019

Question

Why is a transaction appearing assigned to a Customer:Job when it is not associated with that customer in any way?

Answer

You will experience this outcome if you enter a General Journal with a transaction validly assigned to a Customer:Job on the first line of the transaction.  In Journals, the Customer:Job will be assigned to all subsequent entries on this General Journal.

You will also experience this outcome where the first line entry is assigned to a Supplier.

Workaround

Any assignments to Customer:Job or Supplier names should not be made on the first line of a General Journal.

Assign Customer:Job or Supplier names on the second or subsequent lines.
