Legacy KB ID: 3764

Question

My Windows 7 does not generate a New Hardward Found message when I connect the Obvios ORP-800 Thermal Receipt Printer.

Answer

If your Windows 7 32-bit PC cannot recognise the Obvious ORP-800 when it is connected, work through the steps below.

Reboot your PC, insert your Point of Sale Installation CD into your CD/DVD drive and cancel the autostartup.

Create a new folder in your C drive called POS Drivers.

  1. Windows Start button, then Computer (or My Computer);
  2. Double click on C:\ and create a new folder:
    1. Right-click on the background
    2. Select New and then Folder
    3. Rename the folder to POS Drivers.

Copy the driver files from your installation CD to your hard drive:

  1. In Windows Explorer right-click on the CD/DVD drive and select Open;
  2. double click on the Support folder;
  3. copy the file called USB driver R9032148.zip and paste it in your POS drivers folder in C Drive;
  4. in POS Drivers folder right-click on USB driver R9032148.zip and select Extract All;
  5. select this folder (C:\POS Drivers) and click Extract
  6. you should now see 22 files.

Connect the Obvios ORP-800 Receipt Printer to the PC using the USB cable and turn it on.  Wait a few seconds and Windows will try to recognize the new hardware – a bubble at the bottom of the screen should appear with the message Found new hardware.  Click this bubble to open the New Hardware Wizard and follow the prompts to locate the drivers in the POS Drivers folder.

If the Found New Hardware bubble does not appear, try again by turning off the Obvios ORP-800, disconnecting it and rebooting your PC, reconnecting the Obvious ORP-800 and turning it on.  If the error persists then continue with the following steps.
