'Run-time error 91 - Object variable or with block variable not set' when modifying POS keyboard layout in Retail Point of Sale

Legacy KB ID: 3251

Question

Why do I get an error message (Run-time error 91) when modifying the POS Keyboard Layout?

Answer

When modifying the POS keyboard layout, the error message - Run-time error 91 - Object variable or With block variable not set, followed by Run time error 440 - Automation error appears.

This occurs because the keyboard button cannot find a missing help tag.

You will need to download a software update found at: library.reckon.com.au/library/exe/POS200708SP1.exe and apply it on all machines that are running Retail Point of Sale Terminal 2007/08.

Retail Point of Sale crashes because it cannot find the missing help tag. The solution is to install the software update which will include the missing help tag. You will need to install this update on every machine that runs Retail Point of Sale Terminal 2007/08

  1. Click on the link above
  2. Click Save and select a location to save the file (e.g desktop)
  3. Double-click on the setup file
  4. Follow the on screen instructions and once it has completed, click on the Finish button and the install window will close automatically.

Note: Do not close the window manually, as it may cause corruption to the installation of your update.
