Upgrading a Payroll Premier 2010/11 and earlier versions to a 2012/13 version

Legacy KB ID: 4624

Question

I have upgraded my Payroll Premier 2010/11 datafile through 2011/12 to 2012/13 and now my Notes are missing.  What do I need to do to get them back?

Answer

There were 2 patches released for Payroll Premier 2011/12:

·         Payroll Premier 2011/12 Update

  • Employee Notes patch for Payroll Premier 2011/12

The first corrected some issues but not Notes; the second restored the Notes to already upgraded files.

Users upgrading from 2010/11 and earlier to 2012/13 must apply both patches to 2011/12 before they upgrade their datafile.

If you have already completed pays in the 2012/13 file, then you will need to re-input these pays into the newly upgraded file.

Detailed Instructions

1.    Download the Payroll Premier 2011/12 Update from https://www.quicken.com.au/support/updates/QuickPayroll/default.aspx, and,

Download the Patch20_Notes.exe file in kb: https://kb.reckon.com.au/issue_view.asp?ID=4213,

and save them to a convenient location on your PC – like your Desktop or C:\Downloads;

2.    Install Payroll Premier 2011/12 Trial from the installation disk.  You do not need to uninstall 2012/13, but you should delete any upgraded file;

3.    Run Payroll Premier 2011/12 Update (follow instructions that accompanied the download);

4.    Upgrade your 2010/11 datafile.

5.    Run the Patch20_Notes.exe file (follow instructions in the KB);

6.    Verify that your Notes appear correctly and make a backup.

7.    Open Payroll Premier 2012/13 and restore your backup from 2011/12.

8.    If necessary, re-input 2012/13 pays.

Additional Information

Installing 2012/13 will detect the 2011/12 version files and offer to upgrade them, including memorized reports.

Restoring a 2011/12 backup into 2012/13 will restore memorized reports.

If you transfer a 2011/12 datafile (*.QPW) into the 2012/13 directory (C;\QPRollv21\Data\) you must use the upgrade wizard if you want to maintain any memorized reports:

1.    Wizard > Upgrade from Previous Version > Next

2.    The previous version will identified > Next

3.    Tick both, Upgrade Data Files and Upgrade Reports > Next

4.    Complete the Wizard.
