Printer Setup in QuickBooks 2011/12 does not remember printer settings

Question

Why does QuickBooks print my documents to my default printer and not the printer I specified for that form in Printer Setup? 

Answer

QuickBooks is unable to save printer settings for specific forms.

 

Workaround:

Create a Reference List of preferred printers for your various QuickBooks forms for your users.

Before printing a form, change the QuickBooks default printer to that desired printer.

If printing a series of different forms, and the desired printers are different, change the QuickBooks default printer to the desired printer at each change of forms.   

Where you are printing just one instance of a form, then you can select the desired printer from the Printer Settings dialog box after selecting the form to print.
