ActiveX error on QuickBooks Hosted login website

Question

Why do I get the message 'ActiveX control not installed or not enabled' when I try to access QuickBooks Hosted by Reckon Online?  I have accessed QuickBooks Online successfully from this PC many times before.

****   This guide is applicable for Internet Explorer 7 and earlier users   ****

for Internet Explorer 8 and later, users should just click on the ActiveX banner that appears across the top of the webpage and select to Run the Add-On.

You will get this error if you have run the Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons) in Windows Start Button > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.

You will need to reactivate your ActiveX controls. 

 

Detailed Instructions

Close Internet Explorer

Click on the Windows Start button and type iexplore in the Search box and press Enter;

In the Manage Add-ons page, highlight the first Microsoft RDP Client Control (redistributable...) or Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control

Click on the Enable button in the bottom right of the window

highlight the second Microsoft RDP Client Control (redistributable...) or Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control and click on Enable

Click Close

Launch QuickBooks Hosted and the QuickBooks Enterprise icon will appear

You can now enter QuickBooks Hosted. 

 

 

Alternative method:

On the QuickBooks Hosted page, right click on the banner line Internet Explorer is currently running with add-ons disabled.....

Select Manage Add-Ons and follow the prompts to the Manage Add-Ons window;

Follow steps above to Enable Microsoft RDP Client Control (redistributable...) or Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control



Additional information
If you don't get the option to run ActiveX
1. change your Internet Security settings to Medium
      Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet
      Slide the bar down to Medium
      Click OK to save.
2. Open the reckononline website.  You should now see the option for the Active X  add-on.  Click it and the QuickBooks icon should appear.
3. Make the reckononline website a Trusted site:
     Tools > Internet Otpions > Security
     Click on Trusted Site
     Click OK to Save.
4. Return Security to your preferred level:
     Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet
     Slide the bar up to your desired level
     Click OK to Save.
