The Westpac branch code in my QBO 'xxxxxx' conflicts with the Wespac branch code in QuickBooks which has a hyphen in it 'xxx-xxx'

Legacy KB ID: 2028

Question

Why wont my QBO file import properly? QuickBooks keeps asking me to add a new account

Answer

There are 2 ways to work with this function and avoid the conflict of branch codes.

1. Edit the QBO using Microsoft Excel and look for your brank code (on or near line 34) and change it from 'xxxxxx' to 'xxx-xxx' then save the document and import it.

2. Edit your existing bank account in QuickBooks and turn off online access, then import the file and during this process select the Westpac account that you wish to import it into. This will automatically make this account enabled for online access and the issue is no longer present however DO NOT go to the westpac account and click 'OK' as it will check this number and force it to have a hyphen again and you will need to repeat step 2.

To disable a bank account for online access

Go to 'Lists' -> 'Chart of Accounts' and locate your bank account.

'Right Click' on your bank account and select 'Edit' then go to the 'Online Bank Details' tab and untick the 'Online Account Access' checkbox
