'The username must be the same as the currently logged in remote user'

Question

 Why does the message 'The username must be the same as the currently logged in remote user' appear when trying to open a QuickBooks datafile?

Answer

The above error will appear when trying to open a Quickbooks datafile which is located in a folder that belongs to a different Windows User.
For Example, the "My Documents" folder of a different Windows User.

To avoid this error from occurring again;

Create a common folder for all Windows Users to access.
 
OR

Log in to Windows as the user with rights to the folder where the QuickBooks datafile is stored.
