Starting RA Business 2013 does not open last used file

Legacy KB ID: 4892

Question

Why doesn’t Reckon Accounts Business (formerly QuickBooks) 2013 automatically open the last company file opened like it used to?

Answer

All Windows XP and some Windows 8, 7 & Vista users will experience this problem.

Workaround 1

Upgrade to Accounts Business 2013 by downloading the 2013 Tax Table update from https://home.reckon.com.au/support/Home/Downloads/UpdatesServicePacks.aspx

Workaround 2

1.    Close QuickBooks

2.    On XP, in Windows Explorer, browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit \

If you cannot see the Application Data folder, then it is hidden.  To see a hidden folder:

                                          i.    Tools > Folder Options > View;

                                         ii.    In Advanced Settings box, under Hidden files and folder, click on Show hidden files and folders;

                                        iii.    Click OK.

3.    On 8, 7 & Vista, in Windows Explorer, browse to C:\ProgramData\Intuit \

If you cannot see the Application Data folder, then it is hidden.  To see a hidden folder:

                                          i.    Click the Organize button in the top left;

                                         ii.    Select Folder and Search Options > View;

                                        iii.    In Advanced Settings box, under Hidden files and folder, click on Show hidden files and folders;

                                       iv.    Click OK.

4.    Create a new folder called QuickBooks 2013:

a.    File > New  >  Folder;

b.    Type over New Folder name with QuickBooks 2013
(you must include the space before 2013)

c.    Click Enter

d.    Close Windows Explorer.

You can now launch Accounts Business, open a company file, shut down Accounts Business with the company file opened, relaunch Accounts Business and your company file should open.
