Unable to Rename a Table if it has or had a reservation

Legacy KB ID: 3975

Question

I would like to rename my tables, but POS prevents me from doing so because it has past reservations on it!  I need to rename my tables so how can I do it?

Answer

*****   This issue has been addressed in the 2011/12 release   *****

POS Table Manager will prevent you renaming tables due to reservations under the following conditions:

·         There are uncompleted future reservations;

·         Past reservations are still within the time period the POS Administrator has been instructed to maintain past reservations.

Generally, all past and future reservations will need to be deleted before the table can be renamed.

Workaround

Before proceeding with this workaround make a fresh backup of your database.

To delete past reservations:

1.    In POS Administrator click on Tools > Options > Table Manager,

2.    Enter 0 (zero) in the Number of days to keep historical reservations

3.    Click Apply and OK,

4.    In POS Terminal, select Process End of Day.  In POS Administrator post to QuickBooks.  Your historical reservations will be deleted.

Make copies of existing reservations:

1.    In POS Terminal launch the Table Manager > View All Reservations;

2.    Use the arrows at the top of the screen to go to the first day with reservations;

3.    Click on Ctrl+Print Scrn to save this window.  Paste it into your word processor;

4.    Repeat Step 3 for every day with reservations;

5.    Delete all reservations from all tables.

You can now rename your tables.

Re-enter your reservations to the new tables.

In POS Administrator reset the number of days to keep historical reservations.
