Windows Security asking for credentials when logging into QuickBooks Hosted

Legacy KB ID: 4702

Question

Why do I sometimes get asked by Windows Security to enter credentials when logging onto QuickBooks Hosted?  When I do enter my Reckon Online username and password it is rejected.

Answer

You are likely to experience this issue when you share a computer with another QuickBooks Hosted user.

Windows Security on this computer will prompt the second user for Hosted credentials when the first user does not log off properly from an earlier Hosted session, before making the connection to QuickBooks Hosted.

For the credentials to succeed you must tell Windows the domain name on the Hosted Server as well as your username.  When both are entered you will be able to log onto QuickBooks Hosted.

Solution

1.    In the Windows Security window, in the username box enter qbi\ and then your Reckon Customer number and user number.  That is:  qbi\1234567-1

2.    Enter your password and click OK.

To avoid this situation

To properly log off a QuickBooks Hosted session, close QuickBooks and then close your browser.  Do not just close the tab - you must close the entire browser.
