Question

Why can’t I print my letter?  I keep getting the errors:

Server busy

The action cannot be completed because the other program is busy.  Choose ‘Switch To’ to activate the busy program and correct the problem.

When I click on Switch to I get another error:

The document ‘name.doc’ caused a serious error the last time it was opened.  Would you like to continue opening it?

How can I print my letter?

 

Answer

The letter cannot be printed because the letter template is corrupt. 

 

Solution

Create a new letter template.

1.    Copy contents of this letter to another file and then close it;

2.    Delete this Letter Template from your Company Letters folder:

a.    The Company Letters folder is in your Accounts Business data folder;

b.    Default data folder is: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files

3.    Create a new template:

a.    Company > Prepare Letters with Envelopes > Customise Letter Templates

b.    Select Convert an Existing Microsoft Word Document to a a Letter Template

c.    Select the QuickBooks Letter Templates folder in your data folder and continue with the Wizard;

4.    Adjust contents of the letter to your original letter;

5.    Click Use Template to use this new template.
