Question

Why do I receive a message - Reckon Backup Tool cannot be found. Please reinstall using your Quicken CD when attempting to backup online?

Answer

The Reckon Online Backup Tool is not part of the installation of Quicken 2009. It requires the user to run the setup manually.

To use the Quicken 2009 online backup feature, you will need to install the Reckon Tools Backup Desktop application, which is available on the Quicken 2009 CD. If you have installed an earlier version of the Reckon Tools Backup Desktop application, you will need to uninstall that software and install the new version from the Quicken 2009 CD.

To do this;

  1. Insert your Quicken 2009 CD into your CD ROM drive
  2. The installation screen automatically appears. Close the window
  3. Double click the My Computer icon which can be located either on your desktop or through the Windows Start menu
  4. Right click on your CD ROM drive and choose Explore
  5. Double click > HAB Folder
  6. Double click > DISK1 folder
  7. Double click > backup folder
  8. Double click > ReckonBackupToolSetup.msi and follow the onscreen installation prompts

You will now be able to access the Reckon Online Backup facility.
