Day Change column in Quicken’s Portfolio view does not update with latest stock price update

Question

Why doesn’t the Day Change column update for the latest share price update?

You may experience this issue if you activate the share price download by clicking the Download Quotes button at the top of the Investing tab’s Today’s Data screen.  Setting off the share price download by other options like the One Step Update button does not produce this problem.

If you download share prices during the day you will have share prices for the close of business of the previous day.  The screen does not refresh after the new data has been added, so Quicken is comparing two days –yesterday and the previous day– where one day’s data is not recognised. 

If you download share price data in the evening, after the One Step Update servers have been updated, the screen does not refresh so it is comparing today’s data which is not recognised, with the previous day’s data.

 

 

Workaround

Refresh the screen by:

·         Change the date to the previous day and change back to the current date; or,

·         Close Quicken and relaunch it.

 

In future downloads, avoid using the Download Quotes button.  Instead, use:

·         One Step Update at the right of the screen; or

·         Update Now at the right of the screen; or

·         One Step Update icon on the Icon Bar; or

·         Investing > Online Activities > Download Quotes
