Application Error when authorising a company file for Smart Vault

Question

Why do I get the error:

Could not read association information from QuickBooks: could not start Reckon Accounts. Please try closing the current company file and opening again.  If the problem persists please contact Technical Support.

when completing the application form to connect my company file to Smart Vault?

 


Answer

Enable the in-built administrator, uninstall and reinstall Smart Vault and try again.

 

The Issue

The user does not have sufficient permissions to allow the authorisation of the company file for Smart Vault.

 

Detailed Instructions

  1. In Reckon Accounts, click on Edit > Preferences > Integrated Applications > Company Preferences, and untick the entry for SmartVault.

  2. Close Reckon Accounts.

  3. Hold down the Windows key and click X to open the Elevated command Primpt;

  4. Select command Prompt (Admin)

  5. Enter the command:  net user administrator /active:yes

    1. and press Enter;

    2. and close the elevated command prompt.

  6. Logout as the current user and login as the built-in administrator:

  7. On the Settings screen click on the login icon

    1. Select Administrator

    2. Wait while the PC configures to the built-in administrator user

    3. Uninstall Smart Vault

    4. Reinstall Smart Vault

  8. Log Off In-Built Administrator and logon with your normal login.

  9. Open an elevated command prompt with Win+X

    1. Select Command Prompt (Admin)

  10. Enter the command:  net user administrator /active:no

    1. and press Enter;

    2. Close the elevated command prompt.

Now start Reckon Accounts and complete te application form to authorise your company file for Smart Vault.
