Rounding is out by one cent.

Legacy KB ID: 166

Question

Some amounts seem to have an extra one cent no matter what rounding method I use. If I use a GST tax code for a gross figure like $5.00, it ends up adding an extra cent on the total, ie $5.01

Answer

This is not a software problem; it is a limitation of the methods used to calculate tax in the GST system. There are two workarounds for this: The first is to set up a discount item called rounding and to add this discount for one cent to invoices that have the extra cent. Otherwise you can create a tax code that has a 9.999% tax rate. This will then bring the figure down to $5.00 if the 'POS/Retailers rounding' is used.
