How to change the QuickBooks company data file that Smart Tags use

Question

How do I change the QuickBooks data file from which the Microsoft Smart Tags draw their information?

Answer

1. Go to the Start menu, select Find (or Search) > For Files or Folders... 2. Search for a file named Settings.xml 3. Double-click on this file and open using Wordpad Should the computer locate more than one file with this name, choose the file located in the same directory where the Smart Tags were installed to. In this file will be line displaying the following; <DatabasePath>C:\Documents and Settings \"Username"\Desktop\New Folder\"QuickBooks Pro\quickbooks data file".QBW</DatabasePath> Username refer to the user logged onto the computer QuickBooks data file refers to the exact name of the data file being used. 4. Delete everything between <DatabasePath> and </DatabasePath> 5. Save the file and reopen Word or Excel. You wil be prompted to select the QuickBooks data file to use.
