Question

Why wont QuickBooks 2006-07 install when I use the Autorun menu, it just disappears and nothing happens?

Answer

The QuickBooks 2006-07 CDROM's Autorun menu needs to be ran from a local CDROM drive, if you attempt to install this version from a)A network drive or b) Your Local hard drive by copying the files from the CDROM then running Autorun.exe the autorun menu will not start the installation.

To copy the CD contents and install QuickBooks in the abovementioned way, do the following:

1. Insert the CDROM into your computer where the files are to be stored.

2. Cancel the Autorun screen if this starts

3. Open 'My Computer' and right click on your CDROM Drive then select 'Explore'

4. Using the file menu select 'Edit' -> 'Select All', if you are asked if you wish to copy hidden files select 'Yes'

5. Create a folder on your Hard Disk or on the Network Share and name it whatever you wish to call it then open that folder.

6. Make sure you are inside the new folder then in the file menu select 'Edit' -> 'paste', the entire contents of the CDROM will now be copied to your new folder.

7. Once the copy has completed go to the computer that needs to have QuickBooks installed on it and Browse to your new folder.

8. Locate and open the 'QBooks' folder, then select and double click the (setup.exe), QuickBooks 2006-07 will now begin to install as normal.
