Question

Why does the error 'Old File Not Found' appear when opening QuickBooks after the Service Pack has been installed?

Answer

[WHY IT IS HAPPENING]
Sometimes a program may not upgrade correctly when applying a service pack.

[SOLUTION]
1) Uninstall QuickBooks using the Add/Remove programs utility then restart your computer.
Refer to Knowledge Browser article "How to remove a program"

2) Select the STS folder, which is located under C:\ Programs Files \ Intuit \ (your version folder here).
The easiest way is to double click the My Computer icon on your desktop and then each folder in the path above until you can select the STS folder

3) Delete the STS folder.
You can do this by selecting the folder, right clicking the mouse and selecting Delete.

4) Insert the QuickBooks CD and follow the prompts to re-install QuickBooks.

5) Re-install the Service Pack.
