Error 1603 installing Flash Player 8 during QuickBooks 2010/11 installation

Question

Why does my installation fail with the error:

Error 1603:  There was a problem installing “Flash Player 8”?

Answer

This problem can be encountered on 64-bit Windows operating systems.

 

Solution
Manually install Flash Player 8.

1.    Insert your QuickBooks 2010/11 installation disk into your CD/DVD drive and exit from the menu page;

2.    In Windows Explorer, right-click on your CD/DVD drive and select Open;

3.    Browse to ThirdParty\Flash8;

4.    Double click on install_flash_player_active_x.msi to install Flash Player 8;

5.    When complete, install QuickBooks 2010/11 again. 

 
Alternate Workaround:
Download and install the latest Flash Player from the Adobe website:  https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.
