Error: Unable to read system registry when converting data from MYOB in QuickBooks QBi 2008/09

Legacy KB ID: 242

Question

Why do I receive an error message: Unable to read system registry when converting data from MYOB in QuickBooks QBi 2008/09?

Answer

This is because the MYOB converter isn't reading the installed version from the Registry Editor. It is set to 'superpro' by default.

A patch is available and can be downloaded from the link below:

https://www.reckonlimited.com.au/dataservices/files/patches/V3.1.11_BETA.zip

1. Click on the link
2. Save the file on your Desktop
3. Once the download is complete and you have located the file on your desktop, double click V3.1.11_BETA.zip
4. Extract the contents to the MYOBConvert folder which is located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2008-09\Components\MYOBConvert
5. A window will appear stating that the following file(s) already exist. Click Yes to All.

You should now be able to use the MYOB converter to convert your data.

How did we do?
