Customised templates do not upgrade

Question

After upgrading my data file to QuickBooks 2003 but the customised templates did not upgrade correctly or have changed from my previous version, why?

The Layout Designer module in QuickBooks has been improved.  Template created in a previous version of QuickBooks may not come across with customisations (see "important information for Upgraders and New Customers).

Answer

QuickBooks Pro 2003 offers greater flexibility and functionality to customise your templates. Because of these changes in the software, the version may not be able to recognise some Templates modifications created in older versions of Quickbooks Pro like estimates, progress invoices and remittance advice.


We recommend you create these templates again, see "customising forms" in the QuickBooks help.
