Question

Why does QuickTrack freeze when I try to HotSync?

Answer

The time taken to HotSync QuickTrack is highly dependant on the size of the QuickBooks data file and the speed of the computer running QuickBooks, occasionally this can make it appear as if the HotSync has frozen. However you will usually be able to hear hard drive activity continuing. Conservatively if you have a QuickBooks file size of 50mb, and a 500mhz Pentium 3, HotSync could take up to 45 minutes. Note, this is an estimate based on average files of around 50mb, running on a computer that is not running other applications at the time as HotSync. In some situations the time taken may vary.
