Another company’s information is appearing in the SBR on GovConnect

Legacy KB ID: 3993

Question

Why when I import my BAS information into SBR do I get the information that appears to be for another company?

Answer

When you select GovConnect as the method for lodging your BAS, your information is saved to the qbEAS.xml file.  Its default location is:

·         Windows 7, Vista & server 2008:  C:\Users\<logged in user>\My Documents\;

·         Windows XP & Server 2003:  C:\Documents and Settings\<logged in user>\My Documents\

Although GovConnect selects this default location and offers the name qbEAS.xml, both the name of the file and its location can be changed.  The user must remember to upload the correct file for the company to SBR.

If you process BAS in more than one company file and you select the default file name and location when you click on Lodge, then you are over-writing the information of the earlier company with the later company.

Workaround

Option 1:  Upload information to SBR immediately after the BAS has been processed in QuickBooks.

Option 2:  Save the BAS information to a unique file – rename qbEAS.xml to qbEASco1.xml, qbEASco2.xml, etc.  When importing data to SBR, select the appropriate file to the company you are uploading.
