QuickBooks 05/06 stops responding & closes without any error report when in the super by fund rpt

Question

Why does QuickBooks freeze then close without errors when I access my super by fund report?

Answer

This issue can occur after upgrading a data file from QuickBooks 2004 to QuickBooks 2005/06.
If you use a 'beta' version of QuickBooks 2005/06 and update an existing data file from 2004 that contains CDEP information in your employee details this can occur.

The CDEP field has been improved in QuickBooks 2005/06 and is now called 'Position Details', as a result of upgrading using a beta version of QuickBooks these details will now contain illegal characters of which must be removed before the report will work as expected.

To correct this issue go to your employee list and edit all your employees which used this CDEP section in the old version. Remove all illegal characters from the reference number field in the 'Position Details...' area, this field only supports Alpha numeric characters.
