QuickBooks 2012-13 fails to start because stlport_r50.dll was not found

Question

I have installed QuickBooks 2012-13 but when I launch it for the first time I get the error:

"This application has failed to start because stlport_r50.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"

Why?

Answer

Your QuickBooks installation encountered a minor issue and failed to install the file stlport_r50.dll. 

If this is the only file not installed you can obtain a copy of this file and save it to the QuickBooks installation directory. 

However, you do not know whether other necessary files have not installed.  If other files are missing then some functions of QuickBooks may not operate or operate properly. 

 

Workaround

1.    Download stlport_r50.dll from:  https://www.dllguru.com/stlport_r50.dll.html and save it your installation directory.

The default QuickBooks 2012-13 installation directory is C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2012-13\.

Note for Windows Vista & 7 Users:  You must be an Administrative User to save files to the C:\Program Files\ directory.  C:\Program Files\ may also be hidden.
