Cannot find the file specified. Mstscax.dll.MUI

Question

I can no longer enter Quickbooks Desktop 2011/12.  I get the error:

The system cannot find the file specified.

C:\WINDOWS|system32\<ANG_NAME>\mstscax.dll.MUI.

Answer

This problem may be experienced on Windows XP Service Pack 3 computers.  It indicates that a required Operating System file concerned with Remote Access i missing. 

This file may be recreated on system startup.

 

Workaround

Close all applications and reboot your PC.
