High amount of irregular automatic renewal transactions on AUSkey account.

Legacy KB ID: 4714

Question

Why have I received an alert from the Australian Taxation Office of irregular renewal transactions?

“Our system has indicated a high amount of irregular automatic renewal transactions in our system with your AUSkey (which you would have installed on 01/02/2011).”

It goes on to say:

“…..some SBR enabled accounting software…cause renewal failures…[and cause] multiple renewal transaction in our system.”

I use GovConnect to upload my BAS Lodgement Form to the ATO.

Answer

Every time you use your AUSkey (with any SBR software or the ATO’s business portal) it should automatically get renewed with the ATO. So long as you use your AUSkey at least once a year it will never expire.

When you access you AUSkey with GovConnect it doesn’t always renew successfully with the ATO and can attempt to renew multiple times.

It’s not an issue you will notice at the time and your Lodgement is processed properly.

Our Product Development Team is investigating this issue.

Workaround

Follow the steps outlined in your communication from the ATO to renew your AUSkey properly.
