Legacy KB ID: 1083

Question

Why do I see an Assertion Failed error when trying to change a font for any of the fields on my template?

The error will be:

Assertion Failed
Program: ...\QuickBooks Pro\qbw32.exe
File.\.\src\fontmgrc.cpp
Line: 989
Expression: 0

This error has three buttons Abort, Retry and Ignore.

Answer

When this error message appears if 'Ignore' is clicked the user will be able to change the font however this error will occur every time the invoice template is being edited.

To stop the error appearing again;
1) In the 'Create Invoice' screen click 'Customise'.
2) Select the template you wish to edit and then click 'Edit'.
3) The 'Customise Tax Invoice' screen will now appear.
4) Now click 'Default', this will return the customised invoice template back to the original default settings. An option will appear to continue, click OK.
5) The invoice template will now need to be customised to suit the users requirements.
