Create and manage employee super funds in Reckon One
Learn how to create and manage employee superannuation funds in Reckon One, including how to assign a superannuation fund as a default fund - a requirement under Australian superannuation laws.
Create superannuation funds
- Go to Payroll, Payroll Settings, then Superannuation funds
- Select Create superannuation fund
- Select whether the superannuation fund is an APRA regulated fund or a Self Managed Super Fund (SMSF), or select the option to Sign up with an integrated super provider and set this as your default fund. This option will lead you to a sign up process with the super fund provider and will automatically set the provider as your default super fund.
- Enter a Display name for the superannuation fund
- For SMSF, enter the fund name. For APRA regulated super funds, start typing the Fund name to see a list of options to select from.
- Enter the remaining details and select Create.
Select a default fund
Under Australian superannuation laws, you must nominate a default super fund to use for employees who don’t nominate a fund or have a ‘stapled’ fund. If you don’t set one, you may be in breach of your super guarantee obligations. You also need to select a default fund to invite employees to self-onboarding.
You can make one of your created superannuation funds a default superannuation fund, or you can sign up with Reckon One's integrated super provider and set this provider as your default.
- Go to Payroll, Payroll Settings, then Superannuation funds
- If you have created one or more superannuation funds but haven't yet set a default superannuation fund, you will see a notice prompting you to select your default fund. Click the Select default fund button.
- Select the Super fund from the dropdown list of created superannuation funds, or select the option to Sign up with an integrated super provider and set this as your default fund. This will lead you to a sign up process with the super fund provider, and will automatically set it as your default fund.
- Select the Fund product.
- Select Save and close.
Change the default fund
Changing the default fund will not affect employees currently linked to the existing superannuation fund; however, it will be available for easy assignment to new employees.
- Go to Payroll, Payroll Settings, then Superannuation funds
- Select the pencil icon in the section titled Default fund.
- Make the necessary changes, then select Save and close.
Update superannuation funds
To edit or update a superannuation fund:
- Go to Payroll, Payroll Settings, then Superannuation funds
- Select the pencil icon next to the superannuation fund you wish to change.
- Edit the relevant details.
