Set reminders for unscheduled recurring transactions in Reckon One

Learn how to set a reminder on an unscheduled recurring template in Reckon One, so you get a nudge when it's time to create that transaction.

This feature is available on Reckon Ultimate plans.

About recurring transaction reminders

Reminders are for unscheduled transactions and don't create transactions on their own. A reminder tells you when one is due to be created by you so it doesn't slip through the cracks. Reckon One doesn't create the transaction for you. To

These reminders are for you. They're different from invoice reminders, which are emails sent to your customers about unpaid invoices.

Turn on a reminder

  1. In the Day to day menu, select Business, then Recurring Transactions.
  2. Click on the unscheduled transaction name to open it. The Scheduling must be set to Unscheduled.
  3. Turn on Set a reminder. On bills, payments and receipts, turn the Reminder switch to On.
  4. In the Remind me every field, enter a number and select Days, Weeks, Months or Last day of the month. For example, enter '2' and select Weeks to make a reminder for every fortnight. On bills, payments and receipts, this field is called Frequency.
  5. Select the Reminder start date (or Start date). It defaults to today and can't be in the past.
  6. In the Reminder ends (or simply Ends) field, select when the reminders stop:
    1. Never – reminders keep coming at the frequency you set.
    2. After occurrences – enter the number of reminders you want (1 to 999).
    3. On a specified date – enter the date of the last reminder.
  7. Click Save & close.

The date of the next reminder shows under the reminder fields when you open the unscheduled transaction.

Addressing an overdue reminder

If a reminder is overdue, a message will appear at the top the screen when that recurring transaction is open. It will tell you how many days overdue the transaction is.

There are several ways to remove the overdue notice. You can:

  • Click Skip reminder in the overdue notice to remove just that instance of the reminder. This does not create a transaction.
  • Click Create from recurring to make a transaction and then Dismiss the reminder when prompted.
  • Click Skip to current next to the next reminder date to clear the overdue reminders but keep any reminder due today.
  • Click Skip reminder next to the next reminder date to clear everything up to and including your next reminder.

Change a reminder

  1. In the Day to day menu, select Business, then Recurring transactions.
  2. Click on the template name to open it.
  3. Update the reminder fields.
  4. Click Save & close.

Turn off a reminder

  1. In the Day to day menu, select Business, then Recurring transactions.
  2. Click on the template name to open it.
  3. Turn off Set a reminder (or turn the Reminder switch to Off).

The template stays available to use whenever you need it but you will no longer be regularly notified.
