Create a transaction from a recurring template in Reckon One
Learn how to create an invoice, bill, payment, receipt or journal directly from a recurring template in Reckon One, whenever you need one.
You can create transactions from recurring templates at any time, regardless of whether they're scheduled or unscheduled. Creating a transaction from a scheduled template won't affect the schedule or count against any remaining occurrences.
Create a transaction from a template
- In the Day to day menu, select Business, then Recurring Transactions.
- Click on the template name to open it.
- Click Create from recurring.
- A message will appear asking whether you want to create a new transaction from this recurring transaction. Click Create.
- Review the pre-filled details, make any changes you need, then save it like any other transaction.
What’s pre-filled
Every field the template holds is carried onto the new transaction, along with today’s date. A few things are worked out fresh at this point rather than being pre-filled from the template:

Transaction type | Assigned when the transaction is created |
Invoice | Invoice date defaults to today. Due date is calculated from the invoice date and the customer’s default payment terms, then the book’s default, then left blank. |
Bill | Bill date defaults to today. Due date is left blank for you to enter manually. |
Payment | Payment date defaults to today. |
Receipt | Receipt date defaults to today. |
Journal | Journal date defaults to today. Journal number is left for Reckon One to auto-generate – it’s never pre-filled. |
How to tell if a transaction came from a recurring template
You can see whether a transaction was made from a scheduled recurring template in the relevant transaction list (for example, the invoices list, bills list, or journals list screen). Each of these list screens have a Recurring template column, which shows the template that the transaction was created from a schedule. If the column is empty, that transaction wasn’t created from a scheduled template or it was created from unscheduled type template.
You can also open the transaction’s history. A transaction created automatically from a scheduled template shows “System” as the creator, while ones you create yourself show you as the creator.
