Using Firefox v3.5 and higher to access QuickBooks Hosted

Legacy KB ID: 4348

Question

What do I need to do to access QuickBooks Online through a Firefox web browser?

Answer

To access QuickBooks Online using the Firefox web browser you will need to install the IE Tab Add-On in Firefox.  General instructions for installing the IE Tab add-on are available under Support Information on the QuickBooks Online web page.

Please note that web browsers and Add-Ons are being updated continuously.  The versions available at the time of writing may be superseded at any time.  Generally users should aim to be on the latest versions available.  However, later updates may contain features that may prevent QuickBooks Hosted from working optimally.  If such a situation arises, users should revert to an earlier version that was known to work.

To download and install an add-on:

  1. Visit https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/
  2. In the search for add-ons box, enter IE Tab and click on the arrow.

3.    Double Click on the appropriate IE Tab for your Firefox version:

The latest is IE Tab v2 and must be used for Firefox Ver7 and later

  1. Click on the Download button and follow instructions.  Reboot your PC when asked.
  2. Launch Firefox and let the add-on install.

6.    Open the Quickbooks Hosted access page and login:

Standard: https://qbi.reckononline.com.au/RDWeb/Pages/en-US/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=default.aspx

Premium:  https://open.reckononline.com.au/Citrix/XenApp/auth/login.aspx

(You may not see the QuickBooks icon)

7.    In the top left corner click on the Firefox dropdown menu and select Add-On

Older versions of Firefox will use Tools > Add ons

  1. Click on the Options button then the Sites Filter
  2. If the access page does not appear in the Rule box, then in the URL: box add:

Standard: https://qbi.reckononline.com.au/*

Premium:  https://open.reckononline.com.au/*

And click Add and then OK to save.

You should now be back on the QuickBooks Online web access page and you now should see the QuickBooks icon.  If you do not see the icon, click on F5 to refresh the page.

You are now ready to access QuickBooks Online.

Upgrading an existing IE Tab

If you are upgrading an existing IE Tab, you will need to uninstall the earlier version before installing the later one.
