QuickBooks 2008-09 Student Edition expired after 1st July 2010.

Question

I cannot start up QuickBooks 2008-09 Student Edition after 1st July 2010. The message box pops up stating ‘This version of QuickBooks has expired’ then QuickBooks will close down.

Answer

QuickBoooks 2008-09 Student Edition was preconfigured with an expiry date of 30th June 2010.  You can extend this expiry date to the 30th June 2011 by applying the special patch prepared for the Student Edition.

 

Detailed Instructions

 

1.    Click on the link to download the Student Edition 2008-09 patch to your PC:

     https://library.reckon.com.au/library/appcore.dll

Choose to save the file to your Desktop.

2.    Use Windows Explorer to browse to QuickBooks 2008-09 Student Edition installation directory (default location is C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2008-09);

3.    Locate ‘APPCORE.DLL’ in the installation directory and rename it to ‘APPCORE.DLL.OLD’;

4.    Copy the new DLL you have downloaded onto your hard drive into the installation directory;

5.    Open QuickBooks 2008-09 Student Edition.

6.    Copy the Student Edition 2008-09 patch onto an external media and keep with your installation disk.  If in the future you are required to reinstall your QuickBooks 2008-09 Student Edition, you will need to repeat steps 2 – 5.

 

You can continue to use your copy of QuickBooks 2008-09 Student Edition now until June 2011.

 

Note: Please follow this set of instructions for all copies of QuickBooks 2008-09 Student Edition you have installed on your network.
