ABA file shows incorrect Net Pay when salary sacrifice is used in QuickBooks 2011/12

Legacy KB ID: 4067

Question

Why does QuickBooks 2011/12 show the incorrect Net Pay in the ABA file for some employees?  The ABA is paying more than my manual schedule says I should be paying.

Answer

This issue affects employees with Super Salary Sacrifice set as a percentage.

If you have a Salary Sacrifice super payroll item set up with the PAYG option ticked and using a percentage amount in the rate field of the Employees Details, on the second pay (and subsequent pays), the PAYG tax is not calculated correctly (should be reduced due to the Salary Sacrifice amount) and the salary sacrifice amount is not reduced from the Net amount. Once the pay is saved, if opened, it has deducted the salary sacrifice amount from the Net pay but the PAYG calculation is still incorrect.
If the employee is set up for Bank (Online), the Preview ABA and ABA export file will not deduct the salary sacrifice amount and the PAYG tax is calculated incorrectly, although the Online Banking Centre listing amount shows the salary sacrifice deducted.

The issue is being investigated by our Product Development Team.

Workaround

On the Review of Change Payments screen, tick and then untick the box Do not accrue time to refresh the screen.

Additional Information

If your business has a large and diversified pay run, you may want to put all employees that have a percentage-based Super Salary Sacrifice into a separate schedule.
