Super does not calculate on Allowances

Legacy KB ID: 3614

Question

Why doesn’t Super calculate on allowances in 2010/11?  I have checked that the configuration of the Allowance and Super items are correct.  Super did calculate the first time I used the Allowance in 2010/11.

Answer

This problem will be encountered when you do not change any details on the Review Or Change Payments screen of the pay run.  Super on the Allowance is not refreshed.

Workaround

Workaround 1:  Configure the Allowance Item for Quantity

1.    In the Payroll Item List right-click the Allowance Item and select Edit Payroll Item;

2.    Click Next 4 times to get to the Calculate based on quantity screen;

3.    Click the radio button by Calculate this item based on quantity;

4.    Click on Next then Finish;

5.    Go to the Employee Centre and double-click on an employee using this Allowance;

6.    Change tabs to Payment and Compensation Info;

7.    Delete the Allowance from the Additions, Deductions and Company Contributions table;

8.    Enter the Allowance and amount in the Additions, Deductions and Company Contributions table;

9.    Click on OK;

10. Repeat these steps for each employee using this Allowance;

11. When processing pays, in the Review Or Change Payments screen, Other Payroll Items section, enter a 1 in the Quantity column for the Allowance; (if a 1 is already in the Quantity box, delete the 1, click in another line, re-enter 1)

12. The Super amount in Company Summary will increase by the super rate times the Allowance.

Workaround 2:  Delete and re-input the Allowance in the pay run

In the Review Or Change Payments screen, Other Payroll Items section:

·         Highlight the Allowance item;

·         Press the Delete button on the keyboard;

·         Click on the next line to remove the amount;

·         Click the down arrow on the empty line and select the Allowance;

·         Enter the amount in the Rate column and click on the next line;

·         The Super amount in Company Summary will increase by the super rate times the Allowance.
