Kyocera printer causes the toner on my Quicken Stationery to melt and appear ghosted.

Legacy KB ID: 1471

Question

Why does my Kyocera printer cause the toner on my Quicken Stationery to melt?

Answer

The problem is that Kyocera printers run at an extremely high temperature (240 degrees for 0.5 seconds).  This causes the toner on cheques to melt and then to display 'ghosted' along the page at about 25mm intervals.

To resolve this use one of the following solutions;

  1. Ensure the printer is close to an air-conditioning duct, fan or is well ventilated.   This ensures that any 'latent heat build up' is removed by the air moving across the printer.
  2. Print your cheques as the first print run of the day, to avoid printing when the printer has excessive heat build up.
  3. For older printers, ensure that the printer is maintained on a regular basis as the 'Fusion Rollers' do wear, and create problems with Toner blotching.
