Reckon Accounts launcher has stopped working after upgrading to Windows 10

Legacy KB ID: 5441

Question

I have recently upgraded my computer to Windows 10, and now when I try to launch Reckon Accounts Personal Plus or Home & Business 2016, I get the error:  “Reckon Accounts launcher has stopped working”.

Answer

This type of error after a computer upgrade suggests some of the paths used by the application have changed in the new operating system version and the launch application cannot find a required file.

Uninstall and reinstall the Reckon Accounts Personal programme.

  1. Go to the Control Panel and select Programs and Features;

  2. Scroll down to Reckon Accounts 20xx

  3. Right-click it and select Uninstall.

  4. When complete, reboot the PC and install the application again from Disk or your downloaded file.

    1. For a cleaner installation, we suggest you disconnect from the internet and turn off security software like firewalls and anti-virus programmes.

    2. You will need to turn your security software back on and reconnect to the internet to activate your product.
