Why can't I re-apply QuickBooks 2008/09 SP2 (R8) after it has been uninstalled previously?

Answer

In order to apply QuickBooks SP2 (R8) successfully, follow the steps below:

  1. Browse to the installation directory of QuickBooks 2008/09
     - Default location > C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2008/09
  2. Locate the file patchhistory.ini
  3. Right click patchhistory.ini and select Rename
  4. Rename the file to patchhistory_old.ini
  5. Re-apply the QuickBooks 2008/09 SP2 (R8)
