Open launch.ica error when trying to log onto QuickBooks Hosted with a Premium Account.

Question

Why am I asked to open launch.ica when I try to access QuickBooks Hosted?  I select Open but nothing happens and I cannot access QuickBooks.

Answer

The Open launch.ica message arises on Windows 7 computers from an incompatibility between the latest version of the Citrix Receiver App for Windows (XenApp Plugin for hosted Apps; v12.1) and newer editions of Internet Explorer (IE9) and Firefox (v4.0).

Launch.ica should open automatically when you open the QuickBooks Hosted Premium Account landing page.  Changes in the latest editions of Internet Explorer and Firefox do not successfully handle the commands from the latest edition of Citrix Receiver App.

Workaround 2

The simplest resolution is to revert to the older version (‘Legacy’) of the Citrix Receiver App (XenApp Plugin (Client) – version 11.0.150).

Revert to Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3.6

You can also get launch.ica started manually with the following steps:

1.    At the message to open/save/close the launch.ica application, select to save the application – save it to your Desktop;

2.    Close the landing page and web browser and double click on the saved launch.ica file on your Desktop.  A Citrix icon will appear in your system Tray.

If you are asked for a server location, enter

                 https://www.reckononline.com.au/login/

3.    When you log off QuickBooks Hosted, the Citrix application will continue to run in the System Tray.  If you close it, it will delete your launch.ica file.  You will need to repeat these steps the next time you log onto QuickBooks Hosted.
