Invalid Licence Key when a normal User logs on in Win 2000/ XP or Terminal Server.

Question

When the Administrator of a computer that has Windows 2000 installs QuickBooks everything seems to be fine, but as soon as another user logs on it brings up an error message saying "QuickBooks cannot detect a valid licence key".
Other problems may also include being unable to print, use steps 8-10 to fix this.
How do I fix this?

Answer

1. Go to the start menu and click on "run" and type in there 'Regedt32'.
2. Click on the plus sign next to H_Key Local Machine.
3. Click on the plus sign next to Software.
4. Click on the "Intuit" folder.
5. On the menus at the top, click on the Securities drop down menu.
6. Click on Permissions and give full access or full rights to any Quickbooks user.
7. Exit the registry editor
8. Start windows explorer
9. Make sure that the user has full access to the C:\program Files\Intuit Directory
10. Make sure the user has full access to the windows Temp directory

Give the user that is using the program a local admin rights on that machine.
