Class Tracking on Leave Loading and Super in Quickbooks 2011/12

Legacy KB ID: 4215

Question

How do I assign Leave Loading and Super to classes in QuickBooks 2011/12?

Answer

If you assign the entire paycheque to one class, amounts to Leave Loading and Super will be assigned to that class.

If you choose to assign classes per payroll item, then Quickbooks will not assign Leave Loading and Super items to a class.  They will appear in the unclassified column of Class-based Reports.

Workaround

When using classes per payroll item you will need to pass adjusting entries through a General Journal to assign the Leave Loading and Super items to a class.

For example:

Debit:  Payroll Expenses:Leave Loading  (assign to Class1)

Credit:  Payroll Expenses:Leave Loading

Where more than one class is involved, you will need to determine the amounts to each class.  A QuickReport on the Payroll Expense Account with a column for Class added may be of assistance.
