WA State Payroll Tax calculations are incorrect in Accounts Business 2014 R3

Legacy KB ID: 5169

Question

Why is the State Payroll Tax for Western Australia calculating incorrectly?  I have installed the 2014 Tax Table Update.

Answer

Export The State Payroll Tax to an Excel file and modify the threshold amount and tax rates to produce the correct result.

The Issue

The new tax rates and thresholds for Western Australia State Payroll Tax were announced after the 2014 Tax Table Update was finalised.  The new rate is 5.45% and the threshold is $800,000.00pa.

Workaround

Follow these instructions to calculate the correct amount of State Payroll Tax:

  1. Export the State Payroll Tax Detail [Base Amount] Report for the relevant period to Excel;
  2. Change the Threshold amount to the current threshold amount for your period;
  3. Enter a formula into the Taxable Amount field to calculate the taxable amount ( (Total Included Amount minus threshold);
  4. Enter the correct rate into the Percentage field (enter the rate as 5.45 and Excel will display 5.45%);
  5. The Payroll Tax Liability for <State> should be correct.

Reckon Accounts Hosted users will need to download their Excel file from Hosted to their local computer and use the Spreadsheet programme on their computer,
