A field is missing on the SBR form for the BAS on GovConnect

Legacy KB ID: 3978

Question

Why is a field from my QuickBook’s BAS report not showing on the Standard Business Reporting form on GovConnect when lodging the BAS?

Answer

GovConnect is Reckon’s link to the Australian Government’s new Standard Business Reporting (SBR) system.  A key feature of this new system is that SBR will show only those fields of a report that the government body – for BAS, Australian Taxation Office – requires from you.

If a field on the BAS form in QuickBooks is not present on the SBR through GovConnect, then that field is not required.

Solution

Users should investigate any field on the BAS form in QuickBooks that contains an amount and is not present on the SBR and confirm:

·         It has been configured properly;

·         Transactions relating to the field have the correct tax code or assigned to the correct account.

·         If the field is a manual entry field, that the information was entered into the correct field.

The item may be one (like the Fuel Tax Credit) that requires its use be registered with the ATO before it can be used on the BAS.

If the field still shows an amount the user believes is correct and that should be reported, users should contact the ATO for further information and guidance.
